Our Story

Hi,

My name is John Flanagan and I am the Founder of Grizz Golf. I thought you might like to hear our story, which started by accident!

You see, my dad (Clay Flanagan) and I have always loved playing golf together. Being out on the course with him is basically my favorite place in the world to be. There's no stress, no judgement, no pressure, and no bad days... just commiserating and co-celebrating! In my humble opinion, being on the course with my dad is the way golf was meant to be enjoyed. At the end of the day, he doesn't care if I shot in the 70's or the 90's, the real reason to get out and go is to spend time together.

My dad's "Grandpa name" is Grizz. As of writing this letter to all of you, my son Finley is 2.5 years old, my first kid, and the first grandkid in the family. For the record, Finley's got a wicked swing already. He stays on-plane, creates a lot of torque, has a strong wrist hinge, and naturally hits down on the ball as a 2 year old. I've honestly never been prouder of anything in my life.

I came up with the idea to make some custom golf gear for my dad, Grizz, for his most recent birthday. Once I got into the process of designing a logo and considering all of the different elements I'd like to include in something that was truly special and unique to him... I found myself hours in and miles deep down the rabbit hole of possibility.

And just like that, Grizz Golf was born.

I've always been a little bit of a clothing snob. I like nice stuff and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Quite the contrary, actually. I like it when somebody else compliments my fit, because whether I want to admit it or not I always put a little thought into what I'm wearing and what it might communicate to others. I like it when my clothes fit perfectly. I like it when I feel like my shirt conceals what used to be a mildly athletic body in a flattering way. I like it when my hats are crisp. I like to look the part, especially when I'm out on the course.

So instead of simply admiring the creativity and products of other brands, I created one.

Grizz Golf is about making products that make people feel good about themselves. From the duality of the bear logo (it's Grizz and Finley in that logo, if you hadn't noticed) to the premium, classic design of our products, to our unnecessarily luxurious packaging and our obsessive attention to the little details found throughout our family of products, we want you to love the way you look and feel. You deserve that much.
