How to Find the Perfect Golf Polo Fit (And Why It Matters)
Fit is everything in golf. A polo that’s too boxy or too tight can throw off your swing and your confidence, and you’ll just look dumb. At Grizz Golf, we obsess over things like shoulder width, gut clinginess, overall length, armhole sleeve opening and stretch, collar stiffness and more. Whether you’re built like Adonis or Adonis's alcoholic fat cousin, here’s how to dial in your perfect size — and why we designed ours the way we did.
What to Look for When Buying a Golf Polo
1. Shoulder Fit:
The seam should hit right at the edge of your shoulder. Too far down and you’re swimming in fabric; too high and you’re one swing away from a wardrobe malfunction.
2. Chest and Gut Room:
You want enough space to move, but not so much you’re hiding snacks under there. Look for fit guides that give chest and waist measurements, and don’t be afraid to grab the tape measure. (Pro tip: Don’t suck in.)
3. Sleeve Length and Opening:
Sleeves should hit about halfway down your bicep and feel snug, but not like a blood pressure cuff. Check product photos for sleeve shape—some polos are cut for the Hulk, some for the average Joe.
4. Shirt Length:
It should cover your waistband, but not drape like a nightgown. Most golfers want a tail that stays tucked when you swing, but also looks sharp untucked at the 19th hole.
5. Fabric and Stretch:
Look for moisture-wicking, breathable fabrics with a bit of stretch. You want a shirt that moves with you, not against you, especially on those full-send drives.
6. Collar Construction:
A floppy collar looks tired and unimpressively flaccid. Search for polos with reinforced or structured collars—they keep their shape and look sharp, even after a few washes.
7. Sizing Charts and Reviews:
Every brand fits a little differently. Always check the size chart and read customer reviews for clues about true-to-size fit, shrinkage, or other quirks.
Why We Designed Grizz Golf Polos This Way
We’ve tried every polo out there, and most fit differently... that makes it hard to know what size to order and how a shirt is going to fit if you're trying a new brand for the first time. Our polos are built with athletic movement in mind—tailored but not tight, stretchy but not sloppy, with collars that stay crisp and sleeves that don’t ride up. We sweat the small stuff so you don’t have to.
Bottom line: The right fit isn’t just about looking good (though you will). It’s about feeling confident and comfortable, so you can focus on your game—not your shirt.
